Twitter: Follow Friday (& Why I Don’t)

follow me!
If your not familiar with twitter or Follow Friday you’ll probably want to check out this explanation on wiki first. The reason I’ve chosen it as a topic is simple, I use twitter for connecting with people who have an interest in earning a part-time income working from home with Watkins. I’m thinking most people have at least a passing knowledge of twitter & what it is. Based on the statistics that they have 55 million monthly visits (6 million unique visits each month) it fair to say if you haven’t heard of twitter, you will.
Many people use twitter to socially connect, others for business & many for both. I fall into the last category. So what is follow friday & why don’t I do it? Simply follow friday is a way for you to tell your followers of someone you follow that you think they may have an interest in. Sound reasonable enough. The reality is actually far from that. It seems many people in an effort not to leave anybody out, suggest everyone as a follow friday. The fact that everyone does this on friday makes most of the content you get from followers just so much filler.
I prefer to highlight people I find interesting by Re-tweeting (RT) interesting things they have said. If you see that I have RT’d someone, & you find them interesting also, you can choose to follow them. This keeps the twitter stream clear of just “filler” follow fridays & passes along interesting tweets that you might not otherwise see.
Now that you hopefully know a little more about twitter, follow friday & re-tweeting; jump on in. Follow me @Wat_A_Biz (info on Watkins home based business opportunity) or @Wat_A_Recipe (recipes using Watkins fine products & world famous spices).
